Provenance & features

[specs] Yarn: Wool Pile Height: 10–12 mm Weaving: Handwoven Shape: Rectangular Theme: Distressed Backing: Woven Backing Product Features: Washable Traditional Hand-Woven Anatolian Rug This rug is a completely hand-woven Anatolian rug woven before the 1980s. It is made of wool and cotton. Additionally, the edges have been trimmed and sheared in a modern vintage style; no machines were used at any stage of the weaving process. The weave density is 22 knots per 8 cm in width and 28 knots per 8 cm in length. The weaving process took an average of 4 to 6 months. Furthermore, various techniques—such as weft weaving for the border decorations and side loop weaving—were used, varying from region to region. Since rugs of this type are handwoven, it is impossible to find an exact duplicate, though similar ones may exist in terms of color and pattern. For this reason, this rug is one-of-a-kind.

About Hakkari Sümbül Mountain National Park Handwoven Rug

Answers about this specific piece — written for collectors, designers, and voice search.

Authentic vintage pieces like Hakkari Sümbül Mountain National Park Handwoven Rug show subtle color variation in the wool — slight abrash (tone shifts within a single color field) and gentle fading at sun-exposed edges. These are hallmarks of vegetable and mineral dyes rather than uniform synthetic color. Each batch Sempati Hali lists is reviewed in the field before export.
